Acceptance

By creating an account or playing Florabixx, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use Florabixx.

Florabixx is provided by Styves Goupil, an independent developer in Quebec, Canada, referred to as “we” in these terms.

The service

Florabixx offers a new puzzle every day: 7 letters, with one in the centre that must appear in every word. The game has three modes (Zen, Hardcore and Blitz), three languages (French, English and Quebec French), leaderboards, friends, reactions and medals.

Ads and purchases

• Florabixx is free and funded by ads (Google AdMob). Your ad choices are explained in the Privacy Policy.
• Without the purchase, you can watch a rewarded ad to get 1 extra hint, up to 2 per puzzle. It’s always your choice.
• The one-time “Remove Ads” purchase removes all ads, rewarded ads included. It also gives you 2 free hints a day per puzzle, with no ad.
• Purchases are made through the App Store and are subject to Apple’s terms. The price is shown in the App Store before you buy, and refund requests go to Apple.
• The purchase is tied to your Apple ID. To get it back on another device or after reinstalling: Settings → Restore purchases.

Your account

• Depending on your setup, your account is tied to Game Center (when available) or to your device.
• You are responsible for what happens with your account. Protect access to your device and to your Game Center account.
• Your username must follow the rules of conduct.
• We can’t always recover a lost account, for example a device account without Game Center or iCloud Keychain after you switch phones. The Support page explains how to avoid this.

Minimum age

Florabixx is rated 13+ on the App Store. Because the game collects personal information, a minor under 14 needs the consent of a parent or guardian to create an account. The parent or guardian who consents accepts these terms on the minor’s behalf and is responsible for their use of the game.

Rules of conduct

To keep the game enjoyable for everyone, you agree not to:

• pick a username that is hateful, insulting toward a person or group, sexually explicit, extremist, or that impersonates someone else. Quebec swear words (sacres) are part of the language and are allowed; hateful slurs are not;
• harass, intimidate or threaten other players, including by sending them repeated reactions;
• cheat: use a solver, bot, script or any other automated means to play, inflate your scores or manipulate the leaderboards, or create multiple accounts to do so;
• scrape data from the service in bulk, including puzzles, dictionaries or leaderboards;
• attack the service: try to access other players’ accounts or our servers, bypass security measures or limits, overload the service or exploit a vulnerability. If you find a vulnerability, please tell us instead. Thank you!
• use Florabixx unlawfully or in a way that violates the rights of others.

Reports, blocks and moderation

• A filter automatically rejects some usernames. It isn’t perfect, so we may also step in ourselves.
• You can report a player (inappropriate username, harassment, cheating or another reason) and block them by long-pressing their name on the leaderboard, in your friends list or on the podium, or with the “…” button on a reaction you received. A blocked player disappears from your lists, and the two of you can no longer send each other reactions or friend requests.
• We review reports quickly, aiming to handle them within 24 hours.
• If someone breaks these terms, we may, depending on how serious it is, rename their username, remove scores obtained improperly, suspend their account or delete it. In serious cases, we may act without notice.
• If you think a decision is a mistake, write to us.

Game content and definitions

• Florabixx’s dictionaries reflect language as it is spoken, including informal Quebec French, popular expressions and swear words (sacres). They are part of the game. A word being in the dictionary does not mean we endorse it.
• Definitions come from Wiktionary (Wiktionnaire in French), under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). The app shows the source and links to the original entry.
• Quebec definitions marked “unofficial” are written or generated by us, not taken from a reference dictionary. They may contain errors.
• All definitions are provided for information only, with no guarantee of accuracy.
• When you suggest a word, you allow us to add it to the dictionary and use it free of charge, with no time limit. An approved word stays in the dictionary even if you delete your account, with no link to you.

Intellectual property

Florabixx, including its name, logo, design, puzzles, code and original music, belongs to Styves Goupil. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the game for personal, non-commercial purposes. You are of course welcome to share your results and screenshots. Wiktionary definitions remain under their original licence.

Availability and changes

• Florabixx is provided “as is” and as available. We do our best to keep it working well, but we don’t guarantee it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.
• We may change the game, add or remove features, and adjust the dictionaries, puzzles and scoring.
• In case of a bug or abuse, we may correct or reset scores, streaks or leaderboards.
• We may end the service. If so, we will announce it in advance whenever possible.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by the law applicable in Quebec, we are not liable for indirect damages related to your use of, or inability to use, Florabixx, such as losing a streak, scores or game data.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law guarantees you, including under Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act, or our liability for intentional or gross fault, or for bodily or moral injury.

Ending your use

• You can stop playing at any time and delete your account: Profile → Delete my account.
• We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms.
• The “Remove Ads” purchase stays tied to your Apple ID: you can restore it on a new account.

iOS app and Apple

If you use the iOS app, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; these terms add to it. Apple is not responsible for Florabixx or its support: for any question, write to us.

Governing law and language

These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Quebec have jurisdiction, without depriving you of the protections given by the law where you live.

These terms exist in French and English. If the two versions differ, the French version prevails.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The date at the top of the page shows the latest update. Significant changes are announced in the app or on this page before they take effect. If you keep playing afterwards, you accept the new terms; if not, you can delete your account at any time.
